How our shutters are made
A shutter is a simple object made to an unforgiving standard. Here is what happens between the tree and your window.

Responsibly sourced timber
Our hardwood comes from managed plantations, not old-growth forest. Paulownia and basswood are fast-growing, light and dimensionally stable, which is exactly what you want in a panel that has to stay flat for decades in a centrally heated room.
Ethical manufacturing
Our manufacturing partners are independently audited against the SMETA four-pillar standard, covering labour standards, health and safety, environmental performance and business ethics. We don't work with factories that won't be audited.
Kiln drying and machining
Timber is kiln dried to a controlled moisture content before anything is cut. Stiles, rails and louvres are then machined to tolerances measured in fractions of a millimetre, so panels sit square and louvres close flush.
Finishing
Panels are sanded, sealed and finished in multiple coats, then cured and inspected. Paint finishes are checked for coverage and colour consistency; stains are checked for grain and depth.
Quality checks
Every order is assembled and inspected before it leaves the factory, then checked again by our team before installation day. Louvres are tested for even tension, frames for square, hinges for alignment.
Installed by our trusted team
Fitting is where a good shutter is won or lost. Our installers are people we have worked with for years, and they scribe, pack and adjust on site until the line is right.
